2-Year Welding Program

The Welding Technology program is designed to train students for a variety of entry-level positions in the welding and thermal cutting field. Students will learn the basics in the following welding and cutting process: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Oxy-Fuel Welding (OFW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Carbon-Arc Cutting (CAC-A) and Oxy-fuel Cutting (OFC). We follow the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum.  Students will also work on fabrication, grinding, blueprint reading, designing blueprints, CNC plasma cutting systems, and basic AutoCAD skills.

This program is nationally approved through the American Welding Society (AWS) and students who pass the SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, OFW plate or pipe test will be awarded a WV Department of Education Certificate. They will also be placed on the AWS registry for companies to view.

Carver is a WV Department of Education Welding Certification Test Site.
