Students learn the various types of health care systems, careers in healthcare, principles of disease transmission and prevention, human growth and development, basic nutrition, medical terminology, first aid and CPR, mathematics for health careers, consumer rights and responsibilities, legal responsibilities, medical ethics, effective communication skills, personal qualities needed for success, safe work practices, body mechanics, body systems in health and disease, measurement and assessment, EKG, phlebotomy, and principles of sterile technique.
