Respiratory Therapy is a selective admission, limited enrollment program offered by Carver Career and Technical Education Center and BridgeValley Community and Technical College. One class of 25 is admitted each July. The program is designed to prepare students for a career as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Our Program is nationally accredited by The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Education (CoARC) Program Number 200430. Completion of the program leads to an Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy and eligibility for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Therapist Multiple Choice (TMC) and Clinical Simulation Examinations (CSE).
Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) may expect to find employment in-home health care, acute and subacute settings, diagnostics laboratories, research, case management, sales, and asthma education.
The Respiratory Therapy Program is designed to prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs).
