Respiratory Therapy is a program with selective admission and limited enrollment, provided by Carver Career and Technical Education Center in collaboration with BridgeValley Community and Technical College. Each July, a single cohort of 25 students is accepted into the program. This curriculum is specifically structured to equip students for a profession as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The program holds national accreditation from The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Education (CoARC), under Program Number 200430. Upon successful completion, students earn an Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy and become eligible to take the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Therapist Multiple Choice (TMC) and Clinical Simulation Examinations (CSE). Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) can anticipate career opportunities in various fields, including home health care, acute and subacute care environments, diagnostic laboratories, research, case management, sales, and asthma education.
The Respiratory Therapy Program aims to develop graduates who exhibit proficiency across the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) domains essential for the practice of respiratory care as conducted by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs).
