This program is designed for college-bound students who wish to learn more about the sports medicine field. Students will learn basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, infection control, and recognition of sports injuries. Students will create emergency action plans and be able to select an appropriate therapeutic exercise plan for sports injury management. In addition to first aid, specific taping and immobilization techniques will provide knowledge for real-world emergency situations. Students will participate in clinical assignments where they will receive hands-on experience from trusted community professionals in on-field and in-clinic settings. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine-Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT) exam.
