                                 (formerly Allied Health Sciences)

This program is designed to provide the basic vocabulary and procedures necessary to function as a dental assistant to the dentist. Prior to going on OJT (on-job-training) students experience in-house clinical rotation in the Carver Dental Clinic located on campus. Students learn American Heart Association, CPR and will take required courses from the West Virginia Dental Board of Examiners to become an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant.
Students study chair-side dental assisting (four-handed dentistry, dental materials, dental terminology, dental charting, dental instruments); dental anatomy; laboratory procedures (take and pour impressions); digital radiology, office procedures (administrative dental software); and an in-house clinical rotation in the Carver Dental Clinic.
