SkillsUSA and SkillsUSA WV
The motto of the SkillsUSA organization is “Preparing for leadership in the world of work”. At Carver, we believe this to be our motto and our mission. As students are preparing for careers, membership in SkillsUSA gives them the opportunity to develop standards, values, and leadership skills vital to success in the world of work.
SkillsUSA is an organization for trade, industrial, and technical students. Each chapter chooses, plans, and conducts its own activities. SkillsUSA emphasizes social and leadership abilities as well as occupational skills. This organization prepares students for life. It brings people together who share common interests and allows them to share ideas. It helps to broaden perspectives through joint activities of chapters and states.
SkillsUSA instills spirit and a desire to learn, to grow, and to become a productive citizen. We believe that competition is a positive way to increase skill levels, and we are proud of the students who compete for Carver – first within the school, and then at the state level. Students who win a Gold Medal at the SkillsUSA West Virginia State Leadership and Skills Conference, are invited to travel to the National SkillsUSA conference held in June. Congratulations to all of our previous winners, and good luck to those of you who will go forward and compete for the Gold in the future with SkillsUSA!
